Internal audit reports on the quantity of e-waste collected and recycled.
All e-waste that is created in our factories is stored safely and handed over to our recycler. The plants maintain a monthly e-waste report with the amount of e-waste generated and recycled.

Since MoEF already has notified the draft e-waste rules, HCL is proud to say that we have been playing a very proactive role in the process thru MAIT, right from the conception to the final draft.
Even in the absence of a regulatory framework in the country and the lack of EPR laws, HCL has been providing the customers a free e-waste take-back and recycling service from past 2 years under the HCL 'Green-Bag' Campaign.
Last year, we extended the HCL 'Green-Bag' Campaign to retails customers also, thru our HCL-Touch network.
In Financial-year 2009-10, we collected and recycled 73092 Kg of e-waste, 17% more than that of the previous year. Since 2005-06, we have been seeing a continuous improvement in e-waste collection and recycling.
By weight, this e-waste is 5.47% of our hardware sold 7 years back, which is an improvement on our last year figure of 4.77%.

As a major step towards making our e-waste collection service easily accessible to customers, we have now centralized the Green-Bag campaign. Now, we have a dedicated e-waste desk at our Head Office to direct customers regarding their e-waste submission to HCL Touch Centers.
