HCL's Focus areas

Our Solutions & Wins

1. Enterprisewide eProcurement solution for Indian Railways.(www.ireps.gov.in)

Based on the success of pilot project in Northern Railway (www.nreps.com), Railway Board has sanctioned the project for implementation of E-procurement system in eight zonal railways (WR, CR, NR, SECR, WCR, NCR, SR and SCR) and five production units (RCF, ICF, DLW, DMW and RWF). Implementation of Electronic Procurement System (EPS) will increase the transparency and reduce the procurement time cycle thus resulting in improved purchase efficiency. It will also reduce the cost of material as well as cost of purchase due to savings in logistics and transaction cost. The project is to be implemented in secured Data Center at CRIS with connectivity to the railways.

The EPS Application also provides facility for :-
1. Creation and uploading of various types of tender documents on the web site.
2. Free search, view and download of bid documents by vendors.
3. On line submission of digitally signed and encrypted bids in a pre defined format, including facility to up load documents like performance statement etc.
4. Payment of tender fee and earnest money through payment gateway.
5. Opening of bids on the nominated date and time by two authorized representative of buyer by applying their password and digital signature.
6. Generation of item wise, consignee wise and supplier wise comparative statement of rate as well as tabular

2. Automatic Ticket Vending Machines(ATVMs)

16 million passengers travel everyday on Indian Railways. Of these, over 15 million travel on unreserved tickets. Making tickets easily available to passengers, without long waits in queues is a major concern in Railway’s endeavors to improve customer satisfaction. Currently unreserved railway tickets are sold at manned ticket windows, either at railway stations/booking offices or through agents duly authorized by the Railway Administration. Tickets dispensed are either pre-printed card tickets or computer generated from the online, real time Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS). By March 2009, over 99 % of the unreserved tickets will be issued through UTS. To augment the conventional points of sale of unreserved tickets, Indian Railways is introducing Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) integrated with the UTS network. In the first phase, 300 ATVMs have been commissioned in Mumbai suburban area. For the second phase, Indian Railways intends to commission around 6000 ATVMs at various stations across the IR network.
