Cloud based Centralized Directory Solution ensuring secure Authentication & Access for a major mobile payments service provider

Background

As part of their IT security initiative, the Client, one of India’s leading independent mobile payments network, wanted to ensure effective and secure authentication and authorized access to resources.

Business Need

  • Implementation of a centralized directory solution.
  • Implement a solution to maintain a central repository of information at the earliest without dependency on hardware.

The Solution

Post analysis and assessment of client’s requirement, HCL recommended implementation of Active Directory (AD) to effectively control decentralized endpoints. However, the existing system lacked the capability manage the increased workload. To solve this issue HCL configured Microsoft Azure IaaS solution to implement AD on Azure Virtual Machines (VM) in a redundancy mode.

To enable on-premise users to join AD domain on Azure, HCL extended the customer network to Azure in a secure manner by creating site-to-site tunnels. By directly extending all endpoints to the Azure network, HCL provided the client flexibility to join other locations endpoints on the AD domain as and when needed. This also helped the client reduce the network overhead cost at the central location.

Client Benefits

  • Rapid deployment with minimal business disruptions– Solution implemented at server side within a week
  • Reduction in capital expenditures& administration costs
  • Ease of Management
  • Scalability and Reliability
  • Reduction in problems associated with bulk user administration and inactive accounts
