Continuing with its tradition of supporting and showcasing the finest in Indian music and dance to arts connoisseurs in the country, HCL Infosystems Limited, India’s premier IT enabler and country’s leading ICT System Integrator presented ‘Expressions of the Mind 2007’, a special programme of the HCL Concert Series at the city’s Music Academy today. HCL Concert series is an initiative by HCL to provide a platform to the young and talented artists of the country to showcase excellence in Indian art and culture.
This premier Indian classical music event featured vocal performances by acclaimed duo Ranjani and Gayatri. Their splendid vocal rendition and their handling of various ragas at ease were the highlight of the wonderful evening. The audience absolutely enjoyed the show put up by the artists.
The evening began with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the dignitaries including the Guest-of-honour, Mr. M.S. Swaminathan, Chairman, M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation and Mr. N. Murali, President, The Music Academy Madras.
The concert series, initiated in 1998, is an unbroken pattern of four Concerts every month at India Habitat Center in New Delhi. HCL has not only been supporting the artists but in keeping with their commitment to the Indian performing arts, the company has also been nurturing audience development and enhancing the pleasure that audiences derive from the artistic experience. Last year in September 2006 HCL took the HCL Concert series to Chennai in association with The Music Academy, Madras. Ever since then the HCL concert series is being held successfully, one program per month at The Music Academy.
