The concert on Monday, themed ‘Celebration–A form of Prayer’, commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the Chief Guest Mr. Anil Razdan, Secretary, Ministry of Power and Ms. Asha Swarup, Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India.

The event began with a short vocal note by Sudha Raghuraman, award-winning Carnatic vocalist renowned for a soul-stirring voice and her effortless delineation of rare and complicated ragas. An Instrumental composition by highly-acclaimed Mridangist Lalgudi Sriganesh followed, the resounding sound of which held the audiences in raptures. Complimenting the emotions captured in the theme of the event, a passionate dance recital by award-winning Bharatnatyam dancer Pratibha Prahalad, among the best-known classical dancers of the country today. Accompanied by the melodious voice of Sudha, the dance recital brought a fitting finale to the evening.
