HCL Infosystems Ltd, India’s premier information enabling company, inaugurated the first HCL Career Development Centre (HCL CDC) in Hyderabad, under its latest initiative to create highly skilled IT professionals across the country. The company has ventured into the field of IT career development with an objective to meet the increasing demand for skilled professionals from organizations across the country.
Sri R. Damodar Reddy, Honourable Minister for Information Technology and Communication, Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Andhra Pradesh formally inaugurated the HCL CDC today in the presence of Sri B. Satyanarayana, Honourable Minister for Housing, Weaker Section Housing Programme, A.P. Cooperative Housing Societies Federation and Housing Board, Government of Andhra Pradesh and Sri. Shailendra Kumar Joshi, IT Secretary, Government of A.P. Several distinguished guests related to IT and academia including Dr. K.C.Reddy, Chairman, A.P. State Council of Higher Education and Prof. U. Tataji, Vice Chairman, A.P. State Council of Higher Education were also present on the occasion.
HCL has further announced plans to set up 100 HCL CDCs across the country in the next 12 to 15 months. HCL CDCs provide specially designed courses in high-end Software, Hardware and Networking integration to groom students into industry-ready professionals. The company already has fully operational HCL CDCs in nearly twenty cities across the country and plans to set up similar centres overseas as well. HCL CDC in Hyderabad is the first such center in Andhra Pradesh.

In the world of high-end cutting-edge technologies that we live in today, the students do not have the capabilities on leading edge technologies, which is so very critical to build the ICT infrastructure in the country. It is estimated that the Indian ICT market is over Rs. 84,000 crores today, 60-70% of which is hardware and Infrastructure software.
A study by Cisco-IDC estimates that one-third of companies are not able to fill their demand for networking professionals. Also according to an estimate by E-Value, there is an estimated annual demand of around 2 lakh networking professionals in the country while the supply is limited to about 60% of the demand. The deficit is further estimated to grow at a CAGR of 21% till 2010.

“HCL is offering a three-months full-time and one-year part-time course titled HCL Certified Network Engineer (HCNE),” Mr. Eswar added.
The course involves 7 modules, 21 projects and 70 online tests as part of the academic curriculum. HCL CDCs also provide for placement support to all their students who excel in their academics and display a remarkable performance during the course.
